CONAN - Blood Eagle

Conan was one of those bands that I had heard everyone talk about. They all said how great it was, I should listen to it and that I would like it. Besides the split they did with Bongripper, I never bothered to check them out. That is, until Blood Eagle.

The album starts off with low, distorted guitars that did not really tell me what was about to happen, but when the insanely heavy bass joins in along with the drums I start nodding my head to the music. Blood Eagle is indeed the groovy epicness that stoner doom is all about, and it is glorious! With just the right amount of fast parts to keep thing interesting, Conan never lose their driving groove and keep on wading through the sludge, keeping up a catchy war-beat so you never stop moving your head to it. Though the album is lively, it‘s still one of the heaviest and most crushing doom albums I have heard.

Blood Eagle is nothing short of a great album and a great representation for its genre in my opinion. It has the perfect amounts of everything; incredibly stoner-y riffs, sludge and groove. Fans of all things heavy should appreciate this latest offering from Conan. [Napalm]
