MAMMÚT release an evocative video for "Þau svæfa"

Mammút's choice song for a new video is an interesting one. The song "Þau svæfa" is quite startling and grim and with that in mind it is as if the song itself opted to be videos. At least that's my take away after watching the results. And that's great news for us because the video is visceral and beautiful and frankly one of the best I've seen all year. My hat is off for singer Katrínu Mogenssen and artist Sunnevu Ásu Weiss as this video is their brainchild.

Taken off of Komdu Til Mín Svarta Systir, a set of songs that sees a band mature and realised beyond its years, the natural ebb and flow is no little feat and the album is in no shortage of memorable numbers that move the soul with clarity that is as brooding as it is pretty. We talked about Mammút's haunting hit "Salt" in our Mystery Grab Bag 3 (read/listen) a few months ago, but in "Þau svæfa" we find the band move away from the wistful and breeze-like night ballad to heavier and contemplative track that stings ya at every turn.
