[Track Review] We listen to a new CANNIBAL CORPSE song, "Sadistic Embodiment"

As you may (and bloody should!) remember, I sang the praises (here) of Cannibal Corpse's last album, Tortured, and in doing so, skimmed over the band's recorded output thus far. Tortured saw energised Cannibal Corpse churning out some of their hardest hitting yet memorable music in a long ass time. As is the norm, this gave way to rather big expectations and a demand that they would not only make a great album again, but in my case, also add something new to the proceedings.
So when Metal Blade Records dropped "Sadistic Embodiment" off of the forthcoming long player A Skeletal Domain my ears perked and I was eager to run this by other Hannibal Horse fans that occupy HalifaxCollectville. These are our findings....

Bill: Thrashy, tight, and bludgeoning. Is it possible to experience refreshing nostalgia? If you've ever liked cannibal corpse at any stage of your metal upbringing, odds are that you'll approve of "Sadistic Embodiment". I look forward to hearing the rest.

Eyvindur: Yeah, this Cannibal song takes me back to the old days of Eaten.... Very thrashy and bound to throw you straight into the pit. We who like the "simple" Cannibal like this song.

Birkir: Look, I'm not one to fetishize demos or first seven inches but Cannibal Corpse's Buffalo/demo days saw them belt out some of the most savage death thrash I've ever heard. Really, before it became a thing. Now, I'm not pining for that sort of CC but with that material and sporadically ever since, they showed us that they can thrash. Like, thrash hard. But it only really came through in short bursts buried admits their mountains of death metal. The band's been getting heavier and burlier with every album, so, this relentless, speedy thrash attack comes as a breath of fresh air. There are riffs here that echo Slayer and that busy as hell riff brings Dark Angel to mind. But as a whole this is not a very memorable song, aside from those quick silent stops that kick ass and I like how the "breakdown" features fast shredding. Other noteworthy pickings is Paul Mazurkiewicz's right hand during all of this. His "two speed" is tighter than ever before and keeps up with the furious tempo of the song. Hail!

Baldur Beck: This is just solid Corpse. The main difference Þetta er bara solid Corpsari. Helsta breytingin sem ég heyri á sándinu er aðeins meira glamur í bassanum, sem er sómi, því það þýðir að sé verið að láta verkfærið vinna!
