[SONG PREMIERE] GRIT TEETH - Bleak Eyes

Grit Teeth’s early days were steeped in (and still are) noisey, grind-laden metallic hardcore of the American variety, and as such, took no prisoners and left contemporaries mangled and bleeding. But on the group’s debut ten track platter, Let It Be, we find them further interjecting old world crust punk and piercing black ’n’ death metal flourishes into an already devastating sound ushered in on the troupe’s 2015 self titled demo.
The results are nothing short of breathtaking. One need not look further than the fuming “Sword and Shield” and instantly memorable “Burnt Soil” to learn that this Icelandic squad is in full command of their own ambitions; fearless as they effortlessly mold and mix a sundry of genres into an apoplectic whole. As such Let It Be is not as much an invitation into Grit Teeth’s caustic world as it them setting yours ablaze.

Grit Teeth is Dagur, Jón, Hörður and Birkir.
Let It Be is out on Why Not? Plötur.

Halifax Collect is pleased to give you “Bleak Eyes,” an exclusive look into Let It Be. Mouthguards at the door.

"NO MERCY IS KNOWN IN THE EYES OF THE NORTH"

The album is called Let It Be. The cover art is a photograph of someone's home burning as a result of a volcanic eruption on an Icelandic Island. Where have you guys been and where are you going here?
We wanted the cover to resemble a certain type of desolateness and depression. The photo is as said from a volcanic eruption in the 70s which is a decade in Icelands' history that has a very noir aura about it for some reason - I thought I alone had this notion but I‘ve heard the same thing numerous times lately from others.
I saw the photo a while ago and it‘s so immensely captivating and portrays so well a certain rural Icelandic-like desolation that we can relate with. As a band we've never really tried to portray ourselves or represent ourselves from a background we are not. We're essentially all from rural Iceland and that reflects in our imagery and lyrics.
For a while I wanted the album to be called "We're an American band" but that was already taken by fucking Grand Funk Railroad. I also just thought the idea of very blatantly stealing something without actually benefitting from it was kinda funny. And guess what, after we decided to call the album Let It Be I found out that The Replacements had the exact same idea in 1984 which is adds another layer of confusion and absurdity which I appreciate.
