RESTLESS RELENTLESS
Halifax Collect "gave you" Morð on March 14, an introduction to band you'd never heard of, two songs, interview and the works. Proper intrigued myself, it went over well. Here was a new band one should be on the look out in regards to its next step. Well, that step is here and then some.
"Svart" (more on the song here) is their first music video, let loose on the internet only yesterday. It doesn't go silently into the night - an simple, visceral and emotive companion to a relentless and restless song.
Now you'd be forgiven to think - based on this song - that the straight forwardness is rendered by conservative one trick pony'ism. It'd still stand strong. But knock such assumptions off the the table, because their newly conceived and revealed self-titled five song debut release, is anything but conservative. One song will have tremola riffing and long winded blast-beats throughout and then the next song cuts a corner ("Niðurrif") and delves into claustrophobia and manic schizophrenia Kiss It Goodbye ("Holdfúi") would be proud of. I'm thoroughly impressed and surprised by this release and I urge you to check it out, lest you want me to murder an exchange student.
