[Column] "CBC and a helluva Spotify playlist" by Guðný Lára

From Ottawa, Canada hail Crusades a satanic melodic punk rock band. Their sophomore album Perhaps You Deliver This Judgement with Greater Fear Than I Receive it was released last November via No Idea Records.
CRVSADES' initial (and ongoing) goal was to provide the somewhat accessible vehicle that is melodic punk rock for decidedly less than accessible ideas - namely atheism, antichristianity, secular humanism, satanism, and a vehement disdain for the crippling disease that is organised religion.

As a live band Conan took me by surprise, exceeded my expectations. I knew beforehand that I was in for a treat and that this would be a good show, it was that + more. Heaviest band I’ve seen and the crowd reaction was massive.
Napalm Records just released the trio’s third full length on March 11th titled Blood Eagle (First release on Napalm - reviewed here). Colossal riffs, primitive atmosphere and mesmeric melodies are Conan the band that describe themselves as “Caveman Battle Doom” with just a hint of nerdish references…..
Conan are as heavy as interplanetary thunder amplified through the roaring black hole anus of Azathoth. A three piece, in the grand tradition of many amazing fabulous three pieces that hold a tight line and an iron-grip command over the uber-synchronised chord changes and tempo-shifts of the holy trio of bass, drums and guitar. Two men have the task of vocalising wretched thoughts over the turgid weight of Conan. They bear it well, for the task is immense.
If you love crushing heavy doom / drone / sludge then you should give this band a listen!

Beastmilk, a band with a weird name fronted by Kvohst ( Hexvessel, Dödhemsgard, Code ).
If you haven´t been living in a cave for the past year you probably know this band by now. But for those living in the cave, it´s time to come out and listen to Beastmilk! I saw Beastmilk perform a wicked gig in London last Monday, it made me regret not having seen them before!
Beastmilk first got a buzz when Fenriz got a hold of their 2010 demo White Stains on Black Tape and made it one of his 2010 favourites.
Beastmilk's first full length Climax (review), recorded at GodCity with the legendary Kurt Ballou, came out late last year via Svart Records. "Beastmilk sounds like the secret recording from a psychedelic mass, located stylistically between Roky Erickson, early Misfits and The Devil's Blood" - Metal Hammer DE
