Haunting and soothing vocals that range from groaning bellows to high sweeping moans are spread thickly upon each song on this tape. The personal lyrics written by Ryan Egan invite you to feel vulnerable at times, as if you are listening to a man release his soul into a microphone. Lyrics at times are indecipherable, which seems to be intentional, adding another blurry layer to the sound that Pleasure Gap is known for. The production of this album seems a bit cleaner than what was heard on Tropical Barn. Reverbs, feedback, and distortion create layers of unique sonic artifacts throughout this tape.
Tracks like 'Break The Budget', 'Disco Ball' and 'Nu Genes' are upbeat, loud, rocking party tunes. They’ll make you want to shake your ass, eat a pot cookie and fall in love. However, tracks like 'No More Paradise' and 'Wooden Walls' take you into a hazy fuzzed-out dream. They’ll make you want to grab a blanket, curl up on the couch and pet the cat all day. The explosive ending of 'Couch Potato' gives a nod to aggressive punk bands like Black Flag and Minor Threat with it’s chaotic splurge of energy and intensity. This band has dynamics, and they are not shy in showing it.
