This author is know in anarchist bookworm circles for his writing on anarchist organising and ecology. To my knowledge this little novel is his first and only attempt at fiction. My Journey With Aristotle to the Anarchist Utopia is a story about a anarchist who dream travels thousand of years into the future, into a future planet of bio regions (instead of artificial countries and borders) where eco conscious people live in overall harmony with each other (as far as humanly possible since they have decided to do their best) and the ecosystems they are part of.
What makes utopian writing interesting, is the ideas put forth on what anarchists, and other groups and individuals who want to create positive change, without taking power, could set as their goals. The problem with this little book is that Graham Purchase is not much of a fiction writer so this reads like bits and pieces of his political and ecological writing put into the mouths of loosely created characters. He even throws in a stupid sex scene like a desperate screenplay writer with no story. Which Purchase did not need to, he has a story alright and the novel left a positive mark on my mind with its simple take on the theme. [Ill Publishing]
